From SuiteCommerce to Shopify
GEMLUX makes stainless steel boat hardware and marine fishing gear, from outriggers to rigging kits. Text Connects started supporting their NetSuite SuiteCommerce site at the beginning of 2020. SuiteCommerce couldn't show off the brand story and style GEMLUX wanted, so we designed and built a new website and moved them to Shopify in November 2020.
NetSuite stays connected
We connected NetSuite to Shopify at build time through Celigo, so NetSuite still runs the back office while Shopify runs the storefront.
Shipping a set of outriggers isn't like shipping a T-shirt. We built a custom shipping app that contacts NetSuite when a customer checks out and returns a real-time quote, LTL freight or regular shipping, based on what's in the cart.
Dealers and wholesale buyers
Dealers and wholesale customers log in to the same store and see their own terms and pricing.
Helping customers choose
- Product quiz, live on the site, that points shoppers to the gear that fits their boat.
- Color swatches, live on product pages, so customers can compare finishes before they buy.
A homepage built for browsing (2025)
In 2025 we built a custom homepage section that pairs a category menu (best sellers, new products, accessories and apparel, boat shade) with a full-width photo carousel. Each photo carries shoppable product cards with price and reviews, so customers can go from a shot of gear on the water to the product page in one click.

The One More Fish Podcast
We helped GEMLUX set up The One More Fish Podcast and embedded the Spotify episodes on their Shopify store, so listeners and shoppers end up in the same place.
